It's Official...

The Golden Globes have been canceled. In lieu of an actual Ceremony, NBC will hold a news conference at the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel to announce the winners.

According to a story today on abcnews.com, many members of the striking Writer's Guild of America urged their fellow guild members and actors to skip the highly anticipated awards show and picket with them.

Many of the celebs, including George Clooney, who is a member of six different unions in Hollywood, are complying and not crossing the picket lines. Newcomer Nikki Blonsky from Hairspray (so good by the way) is nominated for Best Actress in a musical or comedy is also not crossing. She said:

"The writers are the backbone of the business, so we don't want to lose them in any way"

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, who puts on the big award show is pretty peeved about the whole situation. The A-listers who are nominated, however are standing by their writer's during this difficult time. Let's just hope that they have this all sorted out when the Academy Award nominations are announced!
